Producer of Obama Video on Fox News Loses CNN Job Offer

The Fox News producer behind a provocative four-minute anti-Obama video that aired Wednesday and caused the network considerable embarrassment has found his career on ice.

The producer, Chris White, had been offered a job by CNN before the video was broadcast. But on Thursday, a CNN spokeswoman said that the network would not be hiring him.

Mr. White’s fate at Fox News is unclear.

The video, which aired twice on the morning show “Fox & Friends,” was widely criticized as a thinly veiled attack ad. In it, President Obama is depicted as a failed leader who has not delivered on his 2008 campaign theme of hope and change.

Fox News tried to distance itself from the video on Wednesday, saying that it was not authorized at the senior executive level.

“Fox & Friends,” which walks a tricky line between news, entertainment and commentary, has been a source of ridicule by the network’s liberal critics. Its hosts, Gretchen Carlson and Steve Doocy, have been satirized on “Saturday Night Live.”

The program is overtly hostile to Mr. Obama and Democrats. But Fox executives have said they do not consider it to be — or to hold the same standards as — a news program.
