The gossip columnist Liz Smith fondly recalled her friend Nora Ephron at a luncheon on Wednesday celebrating a film series on groundbreaking women — an event Ms. Ephron had been invited to attend. But Ms. Smith quickly choked up as she reminisced, the City Room blog reported.
On Tuesday, she broke the news of Ms. Ephron’s death by publishing an article online in tribute — hours before Ms. Ephron died. “I’m now famous as the person who killed Nora Ephron before she was dead,” Ms. Smith said. Read more »
