
European stock markets rallied nearly 2% on Tuesday afternoon, buoyed by hopes of US central bank stimulus measures, falling UK inflation and positive company results.
The FTSE 100 rose more than 2% at some points during the afternoon, but ended the day 1.81% up at 5,590.62.
In Germany, the Dax index rose 1.78% to 6,359.72, while in France, the Cac 40 index climbed 1.55% to 3,113.81.
And Spain's Ibex 35 index soared 2.67% to 6,693.9.
