Aviva loses pay vote at its AGM

Breaking news

The insurer Aviva has lost the vote on executive pay at its shareholders' meeting.

Fifty-four per cent voted against the remuneration report at its annual general meeting (AGM).

It is very unusual for companies to lose votes at their AGMs.

Shareholders are angry about new UK chief executive Trevor Matthews receiving a bonus of £45,000 for only one month's work.
